The chin and jaw line, along with the eyes, can form the most photogenic aspects of the face. A chin augmentation, such as a chin implant, can help to enhance the jaw line and improve the facial profile by adding to or reducing the size of the chin. By refining the structure of the chin, the overall proportion and balance of the face will improve and the contours of the chin, neck, and jaw line will be enhanced to give you a more naturally attractive balance between facial features.
Do you feel your face is out of proportion, particularly with respect to your jaw line or chin shape? Are you bothered by a recessed or “weak” chin? Do you want to correct a full or “double chin” appearance that’s caused by a small chin bone? If so, a chin augmentation may help. Be sure to discuss your concerns and desired results with Dr. Stiller and he can help you decide if a chin augmentation is right for you.
During the procedure, Dr. Stiller will make a small incision either underneath the chin, through which he will dissect the tissues back to create space for the chin implant. The implant itself is made of silicone and fits on your chin bone underneath the muscles. The size and projection of the implant will be decided during your consultation with Dr. Stiller. This implant will feel very similar to a natural chin bone after surgery. The incision will be closed and is easily hidden underneath the chin.
For your Cosmetic Surgery, cash pay procedures, your surgery will be performed at our own on-site AAAASF accredited surgery center at our Stiller Aesthetics office. Our operating room is fully equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment.
A chin augmentation is an outpatient procedure, so after a short period of recovery time, you will go home the same day. Recovery after a chin augmentation requires relatively little downtime and most patients find they are ready to return back to work after a week. It is important to sleep face-up while recovering for about 1-2 weeks following surgery – this helps to control swelling and protect incision sites. You can expect to see your final full results after about 3 months post-op once the residual swelling has gone down.
You will be provided with detailed post-operative instructions upon completion of your procedure. If at any time you should have any questions or concerns after surgery, please contact our practice immediately.
The results of your chin augmentation surgery will be permanent and immediate. This means you can enjoy your new appearance for the rest of your life, as long as there is no trauma to the face. Aging will affect your facial skin in other ways, but your chin contour will remain.
